The M16® Z everyday carry series was designed by Vine Grove, Kentucky’s legendary custom knifemaker and retired Sgt. Major Harold “Kit” Carson. After years of crafting knives for military use, he answered the call when it came to creating one for the civilian population. Now people everywhere have a blade that’s ready for the line of duty in whatever capacity they see fit.
An affordable everyday carry knife, the M16®-10KZ features a dual hollow grind tanto-style blade available in plain edge and Triple-Point™ serrated edges similar to our “Big Dog” tactical M16® models. The result is maximum blade strength and ability to saw through cord, webbing, nets or vegetation quickly. It also comes loaded with a distinctive black frame and hardware with a non-reflective tactically inspired look. But at this price, you won’t feel guilty if you leave it at a job site somewhere as night sets in.
The blade opens easily when you need it most. Just put your finger on the Carson Flipper. Flick your wrist. Then it all locks into place with the automated liner safety that automatically actuates when the blades is open. It’s goodbye folder and hello fixed blade when locked. You’re safe and sound and ready to go.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. The handle features easy-to-grip glass-reinforced nylon scales and a stainless steel lined InterFrame. Assembled with glass-reinforced nylon back spacers and Torx® fasteners as well, the handle is rigid and offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. A one position, stainless steel pocket clip rounds out the features. Hold on and be ready to put this knife through anything.

M21 EDC Folding Pocket Knife: Everyday Carry, Black Blade, Automated Liner Safety, G10 Handle, Reversible Pocket Clip M21-02G
$93.00CRKT
When a series like Kit Carson’s aluminum-handled line has been so successful, it is bound to spark calls for variations. In this case, the request was for a deep-bellied spear point blade with recurve. We call the hefty M21-04 and M21-14 models with 3.875″ blades, “Big Dogs.”
The swedged and recurved blade is ground to a spear point shape, using premium 1.4116 stainless steel in non-reflective frost finish to offer superior edge retention. The grind incorporates a false top edge and deep belly, yet retains a full width central spine for most of its length for maximum strength. We offer both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge grinds.
Lubrous washers at the blade pivot assure velvety-smooth one-hand opening and closing, using Kit Carson’s trademark dual checkered thumb studs which also act as a blade stop.
M21™ models feature the very popular “Carson Flipper” blade extension, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.
Kit Carson’s open build uses contoured handles of 6061 T6 aluminum, hard anodized charcoal gray. They are CNC machined with a perimeter radius for a comfortable grip with or without work gloves, skeletonized to reduce weight. There is a single stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves for positive locking.
It also features our automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic.
Every model features a removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip. All fasteners, including the clip screws, are Torx®.
So there you have it. If you love the Carson line, but your work tasks demand a deep-bellied blade, the M21 is the series for you. Same premium build, same functional features, same long life, same excellent value.

$89.00CRKT
A hero knifemaker’s legacy that keeps on giving. One of the most beloved tactical folding knives is back. This time, with a compact build and the same trusty, super effective rope and cord-cutting Veff Serrations™ that defines its parent knife, the M21™-14SFG. Designed by the late legendary knifemaker Harold “Kit” Carson of Vine Grove, Kentucky, the M21™-12SFG offers a combination of Carson-series features requested by military procurement specialists years ago. As a retired Sgt. Major, Kit was happy to oblige. Crafted from high-carbon stainless steel with exclusive, patented, Veff Serrations™, the 3” blade is ideal for cutting rope and fibrous materials. M4 Kit Carson Assisted Opening Pocket Knife Assisted 3.25″ Plain Blade, Burl Wood Handle M4-02W
$88.00CRKT
Custom knife maker and Knife makers’ Guild member Kit Carson is widely known for his M16® design, which we offer in many CRKT® production models. But since 1990, Kit’s most consistent selling custom model has been his classic M4™. In his usual unassuming manner, Kit says, “I guess you’d say it’s my flagship custom. It’s simple, with form following function. No tricks that look slick but aren’t worth a flip in your hand. I’ve made many variations on it, from exotic collectibles to working tacticals, in maybe 20 versions. But I still get more and more calls to make the M4.”
This year we’re offering the M4 design in Kit’s smaller every day carry (E.D.C.) size.
The M4™-02W Burled Wood is a deluxe model with burled wood scales and brushed stainless steel bolsters. It’s a very classy look.
While we were engineering it, we decided to add some more value by offering our patented Outburst® assisted opening, and our locking liner safety innovation adds an ingenious layer of safety to your folding knife. The safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To engage the safety, push the manual safety lever forward. To close the knife, pull the manual lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Many CRKT® folders feature this innovative safety system.
The Outburst mechanism instantly brings the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. M4 models have dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one-hand opening and bronze bearings and lubrous washers at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action.
The 3.25″ blade is a high-hollow-grind drop point of premium 8Cr13MoV stainless steel in a bead-blast finish with a Razor-Sharp edge.
Our heavy-duty InterFrame build is true to Kit’s design, with dual stainless steel liners, one locking, and a stainless steel back spacer.
All M4 models have high-mounted pocket/gear clips.
So here you have a friendly E.D.C. knife that fits the hand naturally for all kinds of cutting and carving tasks. Like Kit, it’s a bit unassuming, but it’s a knife you’ll come back to year after year.
Features
- Fast Opening: Outburst® assisted opening deploys the blade fast
- Easy Closing: Liner lock can be easily closed with one hand
- Custom Stylings: Steel bolster with burl wood handle has classic look.

M40 Folding Knife 2.937″ 1.4116 Tanto Plain Blade, Black GRN Handle with Aluminum Bolsters, Deadbolt Lock M40-02
$169.00CRKT
Discovered in a private collection and brought to life. The late Kit Carson’s memory is felt strongly throughout the industry—it shows in the absolute reverence the knife world has for his M16® and M21™ designs. The M40® everyday carry folding knife is based on a legacy design. This version is reimagined with Deadbolt®, marrying classic design with contemporary innovation. Kit’s legacy just keeps growing.
Kit Carson turned out a host of game changing knives from his bench in Vine Grove, Kentucky. The M40® is based on one of his relatively unknown custom designs. In classic Kit style, the stainless steel compact tanto blade is all business. It’s met with a glass-reinforced nylon and aluminum bolster handle that’s at one strong and surprisingly lightweight. The magic happens when you fire it up. The deployment action is quick and smooth with a flipper and IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system. It locks into place with Deadbolt® and will stay there—enduring incredible stress and weight—until it’s simply closed with the prominent button.
The M40® is well deserving of a spot in this legendary lineage.
How Deadbolt® Works
Steel bolts interlock with the blade when it’s deployed to yield incredible strength. A prominent button sits at the pivot point for simple, intuitive disengagement without fingers crossing the path of the blade.

RMJ Woods Kangee T-Hawk Tomahawk with Spike, 19.13″ Overall 2735
$79.00CRKT
Build a nice log cabin fire. Heck, build a nice log cabin home.
The Woods Kangee is designed by Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical to make your life easy when you’re off the grid. The design for this t-hawk evolved from the original Kangee™ Tactical Tomahawk. The Woods Kangee has a solid chunk of 1055 carbon steel that is hot forged into a rock-solid head and features a hammer finish. The t-hawk has primary and secondary edge bevels that are flat ground to cut through timber like an Oregon beaver. A spike on the opposite end splits ultra-tough wood knots like a boss.
The thick wood handle is made in the USA from Tennessee hickory. It’s comfortable in hand and sealed with a lacquer coat that adds durability when you’re in the back country.
The Woods Kangee T-Hawk isn’t your friend when you’re busting your chops in the forest; it’s your sidekick.
