The Kershaw Leek is a slim and compact pocket knife with an assisted opening, designed by Ken Onion.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Composite Blade Leek is…well, the Composite Blade. The wavy copper line along Kershaw’s Leek Composite Blade is the brazing that permanently joins a razor-sharp, durable D2 cutting edge to a Sandvik 14C28N spine.
On the edge is a high-carbon, high-chromium D2 steel. It capable of taking and holding an edge and the Sandvik 14C28N stainless-steel spine offers great strength, and corrosion resistance. On the spine is high-performance Sandvik 14C28N. With a Composite Blade, each type of steel allowed to do what it does best. The Composite Blade Leek shares its 3-inch blade, slim, easy-to-carry design, and versatility with other Leeks.
The modified drop-point blade shape makes it a good slicing knife. And the slim tip gives it excellent piercing and detail work capabilities. This Leek readily accessible with SpeedSafe assisted opening, providing quick and easy one-handed blade deployment.
A handle of pure stainless steel includes:
- a secure frame lock that secures the blade open during use,
- a Tip-Lock slider that locks the blade closed when folded.
The reversible pocketclip can be configured for right-sided tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled for lanyard attachment.

The Blur’s inset liner lock ensures secure blade lock up during use.
For easy one-handed opening, the Blur is equipped with SpeedSafe® assisted opening. Just push on the built-in Thumb Stud. The reversible pocket clip lets you carry tip-up or tip-down comfortably.

This is one of the original Kershaw Blurs, the Blur that started it all.
Like all Blurs, it’s equipped with a big, slightly recurved blade that’s ideal for multitasking. The blade shape offers both excellent slicing and piercing capabilities and the high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless blade steel offers corrosion resistance and hardness. The black Blur has a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated blade for extra corrosion resistance and enhanced looks.
This black Blur has, as you might expect, black handles with Trac-Tec grip-tape handle inserts for an extremely solid grip. The handle itself is durable 6061-T6 anodized aluminum, sometimes described as “aircraft aluminum” since it is a common material used for aircraft fittings. But the main point is that it’s lightweight, extremely durable, scratch resistant and extra tough.
For easy one-handed opening, the Blur is equipped with SpeedSafe assisted opening. A short push on the thumb stud overcomes the resistance built into the torsion bar in the SpeedSafe mechanism. The SpeedSafe takes over and the blade moves out of the handle quickly and easily. One-handed opening is easy with SpeedSafe. The pocket clip is reversible for your choice of tip-up or tip-down carry. There’s even a pre-drilled lanyard hole.

The Emerson “wave shaped opening feature” is a fast, effective, and impressive way to open your knife.
The patented Emerson “wave shaped feature,” a small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade that’s built to catch on your pocket seam, opens the knife as you withdraw it from your pocket. This instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.
But it does take a little practice.
Enter the Kershaw-Emerson E-Train, our “Emerson trainer” knife. The blade is unsharpened so you can safely practice using the “wave shaped opening feature” without endangering either your pocket or your fingers.
The E-Train’s G-10 front scale is in “safe-training blue” for easy identification. There’s a left/right reversible pocketclip so you can easily carry it with you to train whenever you have a spare moment.
