This culinary set includes six knives and a sharpener presented in a beautiful AAA grade figured maple display. Each blade is crafted from forged 67 layer damascus steel in our signature “lightning” pattern, tempered to an optimal hardness of HRC 59-60. The bolsters and pins are stainless steel, finished with a durable black G10 composite handle. The matching sharpener is diamond coated to allow quick touch up of your edges as needed. The patent pending display is built from solid American black walnut, with laminate inlays, hidden rare earth magnets, and anodized aluminum stabilizing feet. There is also an engraved stainless logo plate on the reverse side, which can be removed, custom engraved, and re-installed with two screws. Finally, your knife set is shipped in a lovely distressed leather roll/bag with blade protectors.

In only a short amount of time the Wüsthof Classic Ikon collection grew out to become one of Wüsthof’s most popular collections. Not surprising as these knives perfectly combine classic and modern elements. The Classic Ikon collection does not only stand out because of its design but also because of the wonderful ergonomic handle. The knives are perfectly balanced! As such they are amazing to use.
The Blade
Like with other Wüsthof collections the blade is made from X50CrMoV15 steel, which was sharpened according to the PEtec method, and polished by hand. This type of steel is also easy to sharpen.
Another advantage of this blade is the crop. It doesn’t extend all the way to the edge, but does separate the handle from the blade. As such you not only keep your fingers safe, you can also use the entire edge. Also great when you want to sharpen the knife.
The Handle
The handle is made from rock-solid POM. This is a shock, heat and acid proof material you can easily clean. Perfect for kitchen knives. The steel of the blade seamlessly merges with the handle. This is not only a rock-solid connection, it also provides great balance. Combined with the ergonomic shape this knife feels amazing in hand.

This gorgeous material features 103 layers, 52 layers of stainless steel on each side of a core of 10Cr15V, an edge steel that is vacuum heat treated and tempered to an optimal hardness of HRC 60 for sharpness, wear resistance, and superior performance. The damascus blades are seamlessly welded into stainless bolsters and a full tang, with compressed carbon fiber handles secured by stainless pins.
