High quality. Made in USA. Unlike cheaper alternatives, no one else bonds the diamond surface the way Katz does. The dual bonded, heat treated array is tough, long lasting polished to mirror finish.
When first using Katz sharpener, the surface will appear to be quite coarse in texture. This roughness is due to the final manufacturing process and will be removed immediately with heavy filling action. As the diamond surface wears down, more and more diamonds are exposed and the sharpener cuts faster. When more pressure is applied, the sharpener will work even faster.
