SOG Assisted Technology
SOG Assisted Technology works through the balance of opposing high-tension coil springs. Spyderco named this knife after its principal job function, to assist. The Assist Black Blade is a lightweight folder for emergency fire/rescue professionals and the well-equipped citizen who rely on knives to be straightforward in use and perform flawlessly. The blade is coated in non-reflective black carbon nitride with a patented lift-and-pry (blunt-nose) shape made from high-carbon VG-10 stainless steel and loaded with teeth. Most of its 3-3/8″ (86mm) cutting edge is serrated with the last inch at the tip left Plain Edged.
Above the one-hand-open hole sits a feature called a Cobra Hood™. It’s a metal cap that guides the thumb over the hole for quick, by-feel opening then doubles as a textured leveraging platform for your thumb during cutting. A wavy pattern cut out of the top of the blade and again along the handle is for controlled rope cutting. By placing a rope in the groove (between the partially open blade and handle) you can squeeze the blade shut, slicing and trimming rope in a controlled movement without fully exposing the cutting edge. The handle is black lightweight fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) with a survival whistle built into the butt end, shrill and high-pitched enough to get you noticed. A reinforced wire pocket clip attaches through the handle on either side for left- or right-hand use. A retractable and replaceable carbide-tip glass/ice breaker is housed inside the handle and is exposed when the closed blade is squeezed into the handle, retracting when pressure is released.

The VG-10 patented blunt-tipped blade is a toothy eighty-percent SpyderEdged for aggressively cutting seatbelts and fibrous material. The last inch of the tip we’ve left PlainEdge for detailed cutting (think sharpening pencils). Perched above the Round Hole, a Cobra Hood positions the thumb directly over the hole for quick blade deployment, then doubles as a leveraging platform for the thumb. The wavy pattern cut from the top of the blade (created by a fireman from Sweden) and along the inside of the handle let you place a piece of rope (between the half-open blade and handle) and scissor the blade shut- especially convenient for cutting rope in-and-around flesh without having to fully open/expose the knife’s blade. The safety orange FRN handle is a molded wonder of Bi-Directional textured contours and bulges that ergonomically wrap around your palm. In the closed position, squeeze the blade deeper into the handle and a retractable carbide tip protrudes out from the base for breaking glass. Outlined in contrasting black on the handle’s spine is a shrill and attention-pitched survival whistle. Carries left/right handed, tip-up by means of a tension wire clip.

That’s why Zero Tolerance is happy to announce a version of that award-winning knife—one that will be much more generally available. The 0770CF offers the style and performance of the award-winning 0777, but in a slightly smaller, streamlined version.
For ZT performance, the blade is S35VN stainless steel, which provides the ability to take a razor edge, excellent edge retention, strength, and toughness. A stonewashed finish on the blade hides hard-use scratches and makes maintenance easier. The sweeping lines of the original 0777 are preserved in the lightweight carbon-fiber handle that fits securely in the hand. An inset liner lock in titanium secures the blade without adding unnecessary weight.
The 0770CF opens quickly and easily thanks to SpeedSafe assisted opening and the built-in flipper. For a final touch of class, ZT adds a handsome oversized pivot.

It has a High-performance MagnaCut blade and textured OD Green G10 scales with ZT’s swift and simple opening system so it’s always ready for the next task quickly.
The 0350OLTS is fully equipped with SpeedSafe for one-handed assisted opening. Even in combat gloves, you can easily deploy the blade using the large, ambidextrous thumb studs or flipper tab.
