This time, with a compact build and the same trusty, super effective rope and cord-cutting Veff Serrations™ that defines its parent knife, the M21™-14SFG. This is a knife that’s as specialized as those who use it.
Designed by the late legendary knifemaker Harold “Kit” Carson of Vine Grove, Kentucky, the M21™-12SFG offers a combination of Carson-series features requested by military procurement specialists years ago. As a retired Sgt. Major, Kit was happy to oblige. Crafted from high-carbon stainless steel with exclusive, patented, Veff Serrations™, the 3” blade is ideal for cutting rope and fibrous materials. Add to that a black corrosion-resistant blade finish and you’re good to go through anything.
A rarity in Special Forces knives, the M21™-12SFG also features a dual hilt blade guard to keep you safe during sustained, heavy use. The automated liner safety sets a red pin between the locking liner and the frame, acting as an additional layer of safety. The universally-recognized handle design is built of grippy, durable G10.

How Automated Liner Safety Works
The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.

Like all Blurs, it’s equipped with a big, slightly recurved blade that’s ideal for multitasking. The blade shape offers both excellent slicing and piercing capabilities and the high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless blade steel offers corrosion resistance and hardness. The black Blur has a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated blade for extra corrosion resistance and enhanced looks.
This black Blur has, as you might expect, black handles with Trac-Tec grip-tape handle inserts for an extremely solid grip. The handle itself is durable 6061-T6 anodized aluminum, sometimes described as “aircraft aluminum” since it is a common material used for aircraft fittings. But the main point is that it’s lightweight, extremely durable, scratch resistant and extra tough.
For easy one-handed opening, the Blur is equipped with SpeedSafe assisted opening. A short push on the thumb stud overcomes the resistance built into the torsion bar in the SpeedSafe mechanism. The SpeedSafe takes over and the blade moves out of the handle quickly and easily. One-handed opening is easy with SpeedSafe. The pocket clip is reversible for your choice of tip-up or tip-down carry. There’s even a pre-drilled lanyard hole.
